Raw, gritty, and aggressive — noticeably less polished than later Enema-era tone. Bright with strong upper-mid presence from the DiMarzio X2N's hot output combined with Marshall brightness. Thick, saturated low-mids from the Mesa providing 'wall of sound' foundation. Completely dry — no reverb, delay, or modulation. Punchy string attack with clear note definition despite heavy distortion. DeLonge: 'I'm the kind of guitarist that wants the biggest, fattest, loudest sound he can get.'
