Mick Gordon used a Fractal Audio Axe-FX II as his primary amp source for the DOOM soundtrack. He later sold this unit (with all original presets) in January 2026. The guitar signal was further processed through analog synthesizers, Eurorack modules, cassette tape machines, and reel-to-reel recorders to create the distinctive industrial-metal hybrid sound. The guitar tone was often run through chainsaw audio samples using Zynaptiq Morph 2.0.

Playing Technique
Heavy, percussive palm-muted chugging on the lowest strings of an 8-string guitar. Djent-influenced staccato picking with extremely tight rhythmic precision. Aggressive downstroke picking with syncopated patterns. The low register riffing is reminiscent of Meshuggah's approach. Minimal lead work — the focus is on crushing, rhythmic low-end riffs.
